The story of Hannah is truly a beautiful one. We find Hannah at the beginning of I Samuel, heartbroken and weary with longing for a child. We know her husband cherished her because he takes the time to comfort her and cheer her. But we see that her heart is still aching for the child she has been unable to bear. But she shows us through her actions that she is a woman of faith. She goes to the temple to pray her hearts’ desires. She vows to the Lord she will return the child to Him when has been weaned. Now this is the important part of the story… she follows through with her vow. Though it certainly must have been hard for her to take her son to the temple which was some distance away, and leave him there to serve the priest, she remained a woman of her word. She visited him once a year the Bible says, and stayed faithful to the vow she made to the Lord. Are you faithful to the promises you make? How many times do we promise our families, friends, or others we will do something, but it never comes to fruition? We need to be women of our word, so others will know they can depend on us.
